Chinese Fried Rice
Chinese fried rice is a popular dish in many parts of the world. It is a versatile dish made with cooked rice, various vegetables, protein such as meat or tofu, and typically flavored with soy sauce and other seasonings. Here's a basic recipe for Chinese fried rice:
Ingredients:
π3 cups cooked rice (preferably cold, leftover rice works best)
π1 cup diced vegetables (such as carrots, peas, bell peppers, onions, and corn)
π1 cup diced protein (such as cooked chicken, shrimp, beef, or tofu)
π2-3 tablespoons cooking oil
π2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
π2-3 tablespoons soy sauce (adjust according to your taste)
π1-2 teaspoons oyster sauce (optional)
πSalt and pepper to taste
π2 eggs, beaten
πGreen onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
πHeat the cooking oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
πAdd the minced garlic and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
πAdd the diced vegetables and protein to the pan and stir-fry for a few minutes until they are cooked through but still slightly crisp. You can add them in the order of their cooking time, starting with the ones that take longer to cook.
πPush the vegetables and protein to one side of the pan and pour the beaten eggs into the other side. Scramble the eggs until they are fully cooked.
πAdd the cold cooked rice to the pan and break up any clumps with a spatula. Stir-fry the rice with the vegetables, protein, and eggs, ensuring they are evenly mixed.
πDrizzle soy sauce and oyster sauce (if using) over the rice and continue to stir-fry for a few more minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.
πTaste the fried rice and season with salt and pepper as needed.
πRemove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions.
πServe hot as a main dish or as a side dish with other Chinese dishes.
Feel free to customize this basic recipe by adding additional ingredients like diced ham, pineapple chunks, or different sauces to suit your preferences. Enjoy your homemade Chinese fried rice! π
